LATEST RAIN CHANGES: Not wanting to make two Gwinnett County teams incure more expenses by traveling to Rome after getting rained out at the University of Georgia on Tuesday, the GHSA has decided to allow Mill Creek and Parkview to play their Class 7A state championship series at Parkview High School. Both teams quickly agreed to the change of venue.
The Class 7A doubleheader between Mill Creek and Parkview will begin at 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 24, at Parkview High School. The "if" game would be on Friday, May 25, at 3:00 p.m., also at Parkview.
All other remaining games were moved to State Mutual Stadium in Rome because the forecast there over the next couple of days is better than at the other sites. The 4A "if" game between Cartersville and Jefferson was scheduled for May 23, as was the "if" game in 6A between Allatoona and Pope. The "if" game in 3A between Lovett and Westminster is scheduled for Thursday, May 24, at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets purchased in advance for games originally scheduled at the University of Georgia or Mercer will be honored for the rescheduled games.
The GHSA Baseball State Championships presented by Mizuno on May 21-23 will be held at four host stadiums, which are home to the Rome Braves, University of Georgia, Savannah Bananas and Mercer University. All series will be streamed live on NFHS Network. 2017 State champions were: Etowah, Pope, Loganville, Marist, North Hall, Jeff Davis, Schley County and Savannah Christian. View past champions.
